It is not so big as to prevent some things from escaping in the middle, but it works perfectly if you are careful when it comes to pouring something.

This is the neatest little gadget! So convenient to pull this out of my drawer, clip on the side of my pot or bowl, and strain! I don't have to worry about using up space with a bulky colander and it's easy to wash. I love it!
